A story arrives in the mailbox. So does an invitation for your grandchild to call you.
This is Letter One of Letters from the Elves of Thornwood, narrated by Lorendil, an old elf who has spent his life collecting stories worth keeping. Inside, "A Song and a Sword" tells of a boy dismissed as lazy for loving music more than swordwork, whose grandmother's half-forgotten lullaby turns out to hold the one thing that can save his village — not a blade, but a song.
Mailed straight to your grandchild in three parts:
- The Tale — a short, self-contained fairy tale
- The Invitation — a P.S. at the end of the story, inviting your grandchild to pick up the phone and call you, whether that's a phone call, FaceTime, or in person
- The Record Page — a place for them to write your story down, in their own handwriting, and keep forever. It can't be finished without you.
A gentle way to try the whole idea before committing to the full series. One tale, one call.
Ships in about a week, so the first letter should arrive within two weeks.
